Be Fashionable Even At the Hospital

comfy-twillsDoctors and even nurses always criticize their need to wear boring white or plain uniforms all the time. They have to wear the same style of uniforms day after day. For some, this may sound childish but they really do feel that they have the need to be more fashionable even though they are at work. Of course, feeling good means that they can do their jobs better with so much efficiency. They would also love to be appreciated for their attire not only of their good performance at work. Hence, how to be fashionable and be a stand out in the hospital scene would be a welcome idea to them.

Fashion is not always about the clothes you wear nor the brand. A person who is wearing a landau scrub and white shoes may even look better than someone who is in a cocktail dress and high heels. What does this mean? It means that being fashionable is a choice whether you are wearing a plain uniform or a gorgeous and expensive dress. The first is the secret of posture. Posture emphasizes all the parts of your body from head to toe. It defines your aura and personality. It imbibes your positively and even your vision. Try to stand straight with your chin up. Walk and feel the difference. (more…)

Become a Fashion Designer

main_FullA fashion designer is a person who designs clothes, by closely following latest fashion trends. At fashion shows and fashion weeks, fashion designers exhibit their creations in front of the world. For most people, fashion designing ends there. But, actually fashion designing is much more than that. Fashion designers are not just the ones whose garments appear on fashion shows. In fact, every piece of cloth that we wear is the work of a fashion designer.

Fashion is an ever changing entity, where nothing remains permanent. So, it is necessary to constantly research about the ongoing trends. Along with the current fashions, one must also be aware of the old fashion styles, so that one can adapt and create new ones. To be a good fashion designer, it is necessary to be creative, so that one can design clothes that are new and innovative. (more…)

Five Common Shopping Mistakes

shoppingEvery time I poll groups of women to find out who likes to shop and who doesn’t, somewhere between one third and one half admit they hate it.  If you add to that the number of women who like to shop but don’t have time to, the percentage soars to almost two-thirds!  I have also found that love it or hate it many women are often frustrated by their shopping experience and rarely find shopping to be as efficient and productive as they’d like.

If any of this sounds familiar, check out these five common shopping mistakes to see if they ring a familiar bell.  Print this out and take it with you on your next shopping trip.  It can save you time, aggravation, and money!  Cleaning up your shopping act can make all the difference in the world.  Try it for yourself and see.

1. Avoid Shopping “Daze” – If you love to shop (and have the time!) then skip to #2 since this will not be an issue for you at all.  This is mostly a concern for women whose eyes glaze over when they walk into a clothing store (as mine do in Home Depot!).  Solution: (more…)

Why would a man want to wear vintage clothes?

black_mWhy would a man want to wear vintage clothes? First of all, it’s exciting! When you wear vintage clothes, you leap out from the herd. The chances of someone else having on the same exact outfit to that particular place are little or none. More and more business men are looking for vintage clothes for parties and gatherings because it assures originality. One vintage clothes collector from Los Angeles, tells, “I wear vintage clothes so I put up and add a little something authentically different to my clothing and not feel the same as everyone else, which is hard in fashion conscious Los Angeles.”

Vintage clothes for men are also nostalgic. Recalling the good old days when there were party lines and soda shops? Me neither, but having on vintage clothes grants a man the chance to feel a small part of history. In today’s unstructured world, it fills nice to act out a part of history.

For the thrifty, the costs on vintage items should be incentive enough. Local thrift stores, flea markets, and yard sales are excellent sources of vintage clothes at unbelievable prices. You can as well offer to help clean out grandpa’s attic! I’ve gained variant vintage clothes and things passed on down to me since I began collecting about three years ago. (more…)

A Police Harassment Case in Orlando

This week, my friend forwarded me a story about a young man named DJ, who was harassed by two policemen while on his way to work. He was harassed, jerked around, and scared out of his mind. The police officers were looking for ways to frame the young man. They have guns and they have the power to drag you to jail if you defied. To read the post and what happened to DJ click on this link: Police Harassment Orlando Police Tried to Frame Me.

Cops can be very intimidating. Some can twist your words and turn you into a villain. Sometimes, you don’t have time for their games and don’t want to go through jail time for speaking your mind, so you go along with them.

Unfortunately, some officers misused their authorities. I think they become jaded and callous over time. Even though these are my excuses for their cocky behavior, I believe with most professions, we can choose to let the negative side eat us up, or we can rise above it. In some instances when a policeman has gone abusive and beyond his role of protecting the public, he is due for retirement or a new career. It is unfair for innocent citizens to have to deal with cops with self-complexity and corruption issues.

I served on a jury once for a police harassment case of an innocent man because he disobeyed orders from a police officer. At first it was just the usual routine check, but the routine procedure turned into a bad situation. The un-armed man was attacked and beaten by the officer who was challenged by a power trip. The Mexican, who didn’t speak any English, was said to have dared to disrespect and disobeyed a police officer.

Don’t get me wrong, I am a typical black is black and white is white kind of person. I have genuine respect for people who serve the public. The nature of police work is dangerous and there is a lot to be said for the hours some cops have to work. I don’t have anything against cops. One of my girlfriends’ husbands is a cop. I have a close friend and a brother in laws that are cops. All these guys are normal, in the capacity that they have no hang-ups about their power or authority.

Like I said, there are cops that are just ready to get off the road and onto retirement. Did you get a chance to read about DJ’s story? What are your thoughts?
